What is going on with Elon Musk?! Has he always been this crazy or is he the perfect example of why you should stay away from twitter/X?

From ‘the world’s raddest man‘ to the not-so-rad sight of Musk jumping up and down on a stage with Trump, declaring himself ‘gothic MAGA’.

There was no hint of these views in Ashlee Vance’s 2016 biography of Musk. Nor in Tim’s Urban’s Elon Musk blog post series. I can’t quite bring myself to read Walter Isaacson’s Musk bio (and I am a huge Isaacson fan) but the author finds find’s Elon’s recent politics ‘really off-putting‘. He’s not the only one. Tesla owners and would-be buyers are being put off in large numbers. This clearly impacts share price and begs the question, is the CEO becoming a liability?

Why is he doing it?

Clearly there is self-interest as the billionaire stands to benefit from deregulating the businesses that he owns, but he also appears to hold a general libertarian ideological view that the is too much government – regulation, bureaucracy, taxes, and allying with Trump will make the world a better place.

Whether you believe that or not probably depends on where you are getting your news from these days and how much time you are spending on twitter.
